Join the RBL

HM Charles III
HM King Charles Ⅲ
Patron of the RBL

You don’t have to have served in the Armed Forces to become a member of the Royal British Legion.

Membership is open to anyone over 18 who shares the values of the Legion to support the Armed Forces community.

The easiest way to join is online via the RBL website. During the online application process, you will be asked for the Branch that you would like to join — our Branch number is 4041 or simply choose Spain and then Madrid from the drop down menus.

The annual RBL membership fee is £20 to which you must add the Madrid Branch fee of €7. Annoyingly, Spanish credit cards are often rejected for payment. It’s easiest to use a UK-based credit card or PayPal with a Spanish credit card (no PayPal account required).

Alternatively, download a hard copy of the RBL Membership Application form which, when completed, can be posted direct to the address at the bottom of the form.

If you need any help with joining you may phone +44 207 191 1091 from Monday to Sunday, 8am - 8pm, excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Unfortunately it’s a full rate call to the UK (unless you have a VPN). Or email membershipservices@britishlegion.org.uk

Purpose and Value of Membership

RBL Madrid Standard

Membership exists so our Armed Forces family has friends and allies standing by them in every community. Our members bring value to the RBL through six core functions:

  • Camaraderie. Spend time together with members of the Armed Forces community.
  • Campaigning. Add a voice to RBL’s campaigns to improve the lives of our Armed Forces family.
  • Fundraising. Collect or generate money to help RBL’s beneficiaries.
  • Kindness. Provide valuable support to beneficiaries going through difficult times.
  • Knowledge. Gain and share understanding about RBL and our Armed Forces family.
  • Remembrance. Work with others to ensure our Armed Forces, past and present are never forgotten.

Benefits of Membership

  • Copies of the Royal British Legion magazine which keeps you up to date with news about our work around the UK and abroad.
  • Membership e-newsletter to find out the latest updates from the RBL.
  • Exclusive membership discount code for the Poppy Shop.
  • Priority access to tickets for the Festival of Remembrance.
  • Participation in Remembrance and commemorative events.
  • The opportunity to get actively involved in the local community by organising events or joining the Branch Community Support Scheme which directly looks after the needs of our beneficiaries.
  • The opportunity to build your skills and CV by taking up one of the committee roles at branch, county, or national level or by being involved in ceremonial activities as a standard bearer.
  • The ability to vote on the way the Legion evolves and continues to support the Armed Forces community.
  • The knowledge that through your membership you are helping others in need.

Join More Than One Branch

The annual RBL membership fee of £20 allows you to join up to four branches at no extra cost (excepting any local branch fees). If you are already a member of the RBL, consider joining the Madrid Branch. Or, if you have a second home, you may also consider becoming a member of a local branch nearby. Check the map below to locate international branches:
